Michael Williams de la Bastida

I am a final-year PhD Student in the Delivering Quantum Technologies CDT at University College London, supervised by Peter Coveney. My research focuses on resource reduction for hybrid quantum-HPC algorithms which simulate chemistry, including fermion-qubit encodings, embedding methods and distributed simulation.

Before my PhD I worked as an Automation Software Engineer at Microsoft, and I hold an MRes in Quantum Technologies (UCL) and an MPhys in Theoretical Physics (University of St Andrews). I also teach quantum and computer science courses to school and university-entrant students, and I review for the Journal of Open Source Software.
